How Much Does Gallery Representation Cost?

Understand membership fees, the 60/40 completed-sale split and the commercial questions an artist should ask. Published 11 August 2026 by Studio 54 Fine Art.

Studio 54 Fine Art’s published membership prices

Studio 54 Fine Art offers three paid representation routes for accepted artists: Artnet at €50 per month, Artsy at €50 per month, or a combined 12-month programme for €1,000 paid upfront. Each is a 12-month commitment.

The fee supports a professional gallery service: portfolio review, promotion on Studio54Art.com, a dedicated artist website, platform presentation, availability management and responses to qualified enquiries. It is not a payment for guaranteed sales or editorial coverage.

  • Artnet: €50 per month · up to 30 accepted works
  • Artsy: €50 per month · up to 30 accepted works
  • Artnet + Artsy: €1,000 upfront for 12 months · up to 30 on each
  • All programmes: 12-month representation, gallery promotion and artist website

The sales commission

For a completed artwork sale, the standard split is 60% to the artist and 40% to Studio 54 Fine Art. This should be understood separately from the monthly membership fee.

The gallery’s role includes presenting the work, handling the collector conversation, confirming availability and price and coordinating transaction details. Packing, shipping, insurance, customs and transaction-specific costs are agreed for each sale.

What is included—and what is not promised

Accepted artists receive professional preparation and representation through the selected programme. Additional opportunities may include curated selections, newsletters, editorial features, social media and gallery-led campaigns, but placement depends on suitability.

No responsible gallery can guarantee a sale, a fixed number of enquiries or a particular level of media coverage. Results depend on the quality of the work, pricing, collector demand, timing and wider market conditions.

Questions to ask before joining any gallery

Artists should compare like for like: the full annual cost, sales commission, length of commitment, number of works, cancellation terms, responsibilities after a sale and whether promises are realistic.

Read the complete written agreement. Make sure prices can remain consistent across your studio, website, existing galleries and online platforms before signing.
